BEST BUDDIES

Best Buddies is a club that affords students with disabilities to forge friendships with their non-disabled peers. We have various school based activities (holiday parties, arts & crafts, pumpkin carving, etc.) to showcase the talents of the ESE students.

The Plantation High School Choral Organization has approximately 200 young, strong, developing voices studying about musical composition, music history, vocal pedagogical production as well as choral singing.  Students experience the beauty of music, and poetry as they express communication through song.

DEBATE TEAM

Plantation High School's Debate Team provides an opportunity for students enrolled in debate class, as well as others who are interested in speech and debate, to practice for and participate in local and national debate tournaments.

Key Club International  

Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through service to others. Key Club has approximately 260,000 members in approximately 5,000 clubs. Key Club is represented in 36 countries.

Latinos In Action (LIA) offers an asset-based approach to bridging the graduation and opportunity gap for Latino students, working from within the educational system to create positive change. Our goal is to empower Latino youth to lead and strengthen their communities through college and career readiness. We accomplish this by focusing on four pillars: leveraging personal and cultural assets, excelling in education, serving the community, and developing leadership skills.

The robust LIA curriculum empowers students as leaders who visit local elementary schools in an effort to not only increase literacy rates of those who are struggling, but to act as role models. A mentor system is used by LIA to encourage peer growth and help students learn leadership skills.

While this unique approach seeks to bridge the graduation and achievement gap Latino students generally experience in the United States, LIA is also a fun and interactive class that provides students with college, career, and life readiness skills

What activities do students in LIA engage in?

LIA students’ tutor/mentor elementary students at nearby schools.  Complete in-class assignments and projects.  Perform monthly community service projects and earn service hours at schools and local community events.  Attend the Latinos in Action Annual Regional Conference and University/College events.  Participate in Latinos in Action dances, cultural events, and other fun activities.

Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School, and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society were formed in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma.  We are dedicated to inspiring a keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students. As of June 2017, more than 110,000 students are Mu Alpha Theta members at more than 2,400 schools in the United States and in 20 foreign countries.

The National Honor Society at Plantation High School showcases several students' dedication to scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Our members are active in school and community-based initiatives that better the respective environment.
